How to place program on desktop?

New to Mac guys, got a Macbook running Snow Leopard, just installed VirtualDJ but I am not seeing the VDJ icon anywhere on the desktop to launch the software? When I click on the apple icon, under Recent Items I am seeing "Virtual DJ Pro" but double clicking on it doesn't launch the software, help?

If you go into macintosh hard drive (depends on what you name it) then applications there should be a list of apps you can try launching it that way.

If that's the case it may not have actually been installed. Easy mistake to make if you are new to the way Mac programs are installed. Check the first two posts in this thread http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/switcher-hangout/251468-installing-uninstalling-applications.html.

These are the most common methods. It should help you determine which installer your software uses. After that it will be easy to place a shortcut (alias in Mac terms) anywhere you like.
