2007 Mac Book Pro 2.2 Ghz 4 GB RAM SSD OSX 10.11 & 2006 MBP Stuck At 10.6.8
Hello!
I have MacBook Pro 2.2 Ghz 2mb RAM & use OS X 10.6.8. It has two "User Accounts".
On one of the accounts (the one that is not the administrator account), Mail has started acting goofy.

Sometimes, I will never check for new messages, sometimes it does so OK. Often, it won't prompt me for permission to download large attachments, sometimes it does. The little spinny thing that shows mail is being received never shows up anymore. Adding my signature is hit-or-miss.

I searched "Library" & "Preferences", hoping to get a clue of a plist, or similar file, to remove to kick start Mail back into proper behavior. I succeeded in getting lost in the maze.

Do any of you have an idea of how to correct this behavior, preferable without setting up the account again? I sure appreciate any ideas!

Thanks Very Much!
Paul

Thank You for replying, Robduckyworth.
I forgot to mention that in the positing. I had previously tried repairing permissions & also forced the maintenance scripts. No luck.

Sorry about my delay in response. Have you still got the original DVDs that came with your Mac? Particularly the "Applications" Disc? Maybe a reinstall will help.

Thanks for the idea.
I'm not sure if you meant to re-install the OS completely (on top of the existing) or if there is a way to re-install Mail only. I have the original disks that had 10.4.xx & the upgrade disk to 10.6.xx Snow Leopard.
Thanks!
Paul

There is a way to re-install just Mail but you will need a program called Pacifist. It's currently $20 but I think it can be run a few times in demo mode.

Thanks For The Information Slydude!
Pacifist sounds like a good program to try out. I certainly have to do something, as Mail is getting nuttier & nuttier each day.
Thanks Again,
Paul
