New iPad sync question

I just got a new iPad. I've copied my apps from my iPhone to it. The apps all copied but they didn't stay in the sorting/arrangement I had them in on my phone. If I re arrange everything on the iPad, is there a way to sync from the iPad back to iTunes on my macbook pro to "save" the arrangement (all news in a news folder, all entertainment apps in an entertainment folder, etc.).

iTunes will maintain separate profiles for the two devices. You can also plug in either and arrange the icons within iTunes if that's more comfortable.
