Hi

I'm looking to upgrade the RAM in a Macbook using Crucial from 2GB to 4GB.

The 2x 2GB Crucial modules are specifying a 204 PIN slot, however the Macbook PDF Manual confirms a 200 PIN slot.

(DDR SODIMM) Double Data Rate Small Outline Dual Inline Memory Module.
1.25 inch (3.18 cm)
200-pin
13-inch, Aluminum Macbook, Late 2008)
Memory Type: DDR3 PC3-8500 1066.

Can anyone advice what correct PIN slot i should be installing with ?

Your Mac's Specs
2017 15" MBP, 16gig ram, 1TB SSD, OS 10.15
Both OWC or Crucial have the ram you need:

- OWC
- Crucial

Just go to either webpage...look up your MacBook specs....and you'll find the ram info you need.

You may choose not to order from either of these folks...but you will have the correct ram info you're looking for.:)

Your Mac's Specs
13 Inch MBP - i5 2.4GHz - 16GB - 500GB - 13Inch MB Uni - 2GHz - 8GB - 320GB
I have a late 08 MB and it's using 204 Pin DDR3.
Upgraded to 8GB.
200 Pin is DDR2
I too am using Crucial DDR3 1333Mhz instead of 1066Mhz.

Why then does my Macbook Manual specify a 200 PIN slot ?
But I'm sure your right though, the RAM is a 204 PIN slot.

Bimmer, how is it you have 8GB of RAM in a Macbook late 2008 when the max it can only use is 4GB ?

Do you have a late 08 MB Uni or MB White?

If you have the Uni, then your MB supports 8GB DDR3 RAM = 204PIN

If however, you have the MB white, you can only go to 6GB DDR2 RAM = 200PIN.

I was talking about my own MB Uni without asking if you have the MB white.

Hope that clears up some confusion.

Your MB is just like mine....

8GB DDR3 204-PIN is the max you can install in your MB.

Need to know more? Go to everymac and look at the specs of your system. They will also confirm that your MB will take 8GB of RAM.

I believe your right, but why does the Manual for my MB say

Double Data Rate Small Outline Dual Inline Memory Module (DDR3) format 200-pin

You can add two 2 GB memory modules for a maximum of 4 GB of memory.

I thinking they have given me the white MB Manual, but why would they do that ?

DDR3 is 204 PIN.
DDR2 is 200 PIN.

Since there are 2 versions of Macbook ( not anymore ), your Macbook probably got the user guide of the Macbook Poly (White) instead of the Uni.

You're REALLY making this a lot harder than it needs to be.:(

Identifying the ram for a MacBook is VERY VERY easy (especially since it's an aluminum MacBook)...since there were only 2 models out of 21 different MacBook models.

The answer to your question was back in post #2.:)

But if you REALLY need to be GIVEN the answer...here it is:

MacBook Ram
