Weird. Woke up this morning, sat down at my MacBook Pro, and found that neither Mail nor iCal would open. The icons in the dock bounced around a bit and then stopped. I can access these apps through iCloud on my iPhone and Safari. Restart didn't help. Any of you have some advice for me? Thanks.

First of all, you are not accessing the apps on your computer through iCloud on your iPhone, rather, the apps on the computer and the apps on your iPhone are both sharing the same data that lives in iCloud.
Have you tried resetting your PRAM and NVRAM?
Have you tried verifying and repairing permissions?
Have you tried resetting ACL permissions?
Usually I find these issues are resolved with resetting ACL.
