Can someone tell me what I need to use to create an EXACT image copy of my system?
So that I can go back repeatedly and just restore a previous image state?

I've been told before that things in 'Mac World' run differently and a Mac 'never' dies
LOL

I know some people (not many) who's Mac OS has crashed and died (though maybe because of hardware failure and not necessarily because of the OS)

Regardless, I still want to have an EXACT image copy that I can simply use to restore the exact state at which I create the image

Thanks

Choose between 2 programs, both are very good indeed

Carbon Copy Cloner and SuperDuper

You have Mac 101: Time Machine and Carbon Copy Cloner - Home as two options.

Time Machine allows you to keep a constant running image and allows you to rollback single changes if need be. Carbon Copy will make an entire system image to allow you to rollback..

do i need osx 10.6 for time machine?

let's say i install trial software for 30 days
can i rollback and reinstall after 30 days?
for me that's the acid test to determine if i truly can go back to an exact image
thanks

You don't need 10.6 (Snow Leopard) in order to run Time Machine. TM first appeared with Leopard (10.5).

And we're not going to talk about rolling back an image with trial software so you can cheat on the allocated trial time to run the software. 30 days is enough time to make up your mind to buy the software. Otherwise, remove it.
