Macbook Pro freezes

Hey guys, I'm a new macbook user. I've just got my first 13" Macbook pro last year November. The thing is, my macbook freezes EVERYTIME during the startup after a software update. I couldn't do anything but to force shut down by pressing the power button. Please tell me what is wrong with my macbook and what is the right way to deal with this situation the next time it freezes. Any help much appreciated!

Use your restore disk and reinstall OS X. You can partition the drive so that you dont loose your files.

How am I suppose to do that? I'm very new to mac, sorry. Thanks.

If you still have the disk that came with your mac then insert the disk and hold d while booting, if you have lion hold command and R to boot to that and follow the instructions on the screen.
