An uncorroborated report claims to have knowledge of how Apple is planning to use the iPad with a much rumored unannounced television, saying that the tablet will run dedicated remote control apps featuring an enhanced UI.

What would be nice is if Apple would equip their devices with infrared ports so we can have apps that will control all existing TVs, various appliances, garage door openers, etc.

My Dream said:
SIRI: "The Maps app tells me you are approaching Home. Shall I open the garage for you?"

Quite frankly, not very. I can think of several scenarios where that would be more dangerous than helpful. Just sayin'.

I'd be curious to know if any of those scenarios are any more or less dangerous than the multitude of universal devices (including garage door openers) that have already been on the market for years.
