I have a 2006 20" imac that is totally dead. It was working fine and now it isn't.
I'm a mac novice but well experienced fixing laptops / pcs

I've taken the front off and removed the screen, i wanted to test for power but I'm a little confused with what to test, it looks to have a main power board and an inverter for the screen. the main cable is somewhere under the motherboard.

what would you be testing/replacing first?

regards James

Sounds like power supply. Some iMacs of that vintage did suffer from this.
