internet connection probs with macbook

I am having problems with my macbook connecting to my wireless network. Several times a day it will not connect. I have to shut off the airport and then turn it back on and it works fine for a while. Then is starts acting up again. I have an ipad on the same network and it does not have this problem.

Running OS 10.5.8
