My Macbook Pro screen randomly goes black. The computer is still on and running, but the screen is black. Sometimes it will even start to slowly shift back and forth from black to white. The only way to fix it is to shut down my computer by holding down the power button. Here is my macbook info:

Model Name: MacBook Pro 15"
Processor Name: Intel Core Duo
Processor Speed: 2 GHz
Memory: 2 GB
Serial Number (system): W8623454VWW

My computer is not under warranty and it's old. Idk to whether to buy a new mac or fix this one. I could be browsing the internet or working in Photoshop and it'll go blank. I don't know what causes it.

Whether or not you repair it depends on what's wrong. It may something as simple as a loose video cable connector or it could be a much more serious problem. If you're handy with doing repairs you might want to disassemble your MBP and see if you can find the problem. The folks at ifixit.com have take apart instructions which you can follow.
