Hello Good Evening

I recently upgraded to Lion 10.7.3 from 10.6.8 Snow leopard.

Install went great, but on opening finder and in the sidebar I found I have random names with computer icons:

chris - pc
david - pc
lloyd - vaio

The names seem to increase or decrease daily?

Can anyone shed any light on where these have come from?

Moreso how to get rid / delete them permanently ?

I know if I goto - finder, preferences and 'uncheck all the boxes' in the 'Shared' section they don't appear.

Also If I goto the system preferences, user accounts, click 'guest user' then uncheck the 'allow guests to connect to the share folder' option that sometimes makes the names dissapear.

I haven't connected to any servers or wifi or bluetooth devices and they weren't there when I had Snow Leopard installed.

Anyone else have the same issue and is it a new feature of Lion?

Thanks;)

Those are other folks on your network with sharing turned on.

If this is on your home network, you need to secure it (your wifi), because people are leeching off of you. If you're at work, college, or at a hotel - that's relatively normal.

(Note: Always turn file sharing OFF if you are in a hotel! - System Prefs -> Sharing -> Uncheck everything)
