basically i have an audio issue with my macbook pro!!!!!!!!

about a week ago a circle of aluminium around the audio jack came off, but it was still working. Now the audio has completely dropped out in the left stereo channel, and its really quiet in the other. Im not sure whether its an issue with the jack or the processing though? because sometimes when listening through the built in speakers the sound seems to shift around, so it sounds like the source is moving around you

i have a few months left in my 3 year applecare, but i was wondering about opinions, because in the terms and conditions apple say they dont cover any cosmetic damage, but this is kind of both? :(

Take it on in anyway. Something is wrong with the jack itself not just the aluminum shielding piece. Make an appointment first before taking the trip to the Apple store.
