deleting excel workbook

HELP!! Just transferring excel worksheets from my old PC to my new iMac and just cannot seem to delete a duplicated workbook. I have managed to delete all data on the sheets but on viewing the excel gallery, the workbook is still on show. Can it be removed?
I have tried dragging it to the trash but it won't move!!
