The screen of my MacBook Pro has stopped working (possibly got put down a bit vigorously while it was in my rucksack) and I want to make sure it is fully backed up before I start getting it fixed or replaced. It sounds like it is still working properly (chimes when I start it, DVD and HDD are making the usual noises) but there is just nothing on the screen.
I have been through the forums to find out how to put it into Clamshell mode - plug in external monitor, usb keyboard and mouse, and AC power, turn on an close the lid - but nothing seems to be happening. I've checked the monitor, keyboard and mouse all work.
Does anyone know what I am doing wrong? Is there a particular point I should close the lid? Or does it sound like my MBP is more knackered that just the screen?
Thanks
