Reducing Picture size

Can someone tell me how I reduce the file size of pictures in Finder? I'm new to all this

I'm assuming you're talking about image files that are stored in regular folders, and not iPhoto images...

In that case, just double click on the photo so that it opens up in Preview. Choose Tools>Adjust Size from the menu bar.

I keeps saying all my files are locked and won't let me unlock them! I am really struggling with this mac.

Where are these files stored? On an NTFS formatted external drive?

If they're locked, they'll have a padlock in the bottom left hand corner like so:

If that's the case, right click them > Get Info > and uncheck the "Locked" box.
