we have a BT home hub that only reaches about 1/2 the house. i bought an edimax range extender which i simply can't seems to set up. i've been through all the on-screen instructions, plugging in an ethernet cable and going through the set-up but the upstairs computers can't seem to connect. they can see it and we've set up a password - but it won't work. i'm not a complete idiot but self-taught with computers so not familiar with too may terms. grateful for any help!

Not sure if this helps, but what are the encryptions set to on the BT home hub?

A friend of mine had the same type of issue, and she found that the hub was setup to WEP / WPA.
It turned out that this security is not supported by the Edimax, it supports WEP only, WPA only or WPA2 only but not mixed encryptions as she had.
