Not sure how I did this, but the applications folder disappeared from my dock. I replaced it, but when I opened it up, it was empty. I noticed that when I went into my apps folder under my username in the Finder, it was empty. However, when I click on Applications listed under "Places" in the left column in my Finder window, all my apps still appear to be safe and sound. Any idea how I can replace them in my username Applications folder, and return them to my dock? I tried simply dragging them ther from my Applications "place", but then that was empty. Thanks..

The Applications folder is the one that lives within your Mac HD not your username.

Drag that one to your dock and you'll be back to how you were.

Well, almost. Usually you then have to right click on it and select Display as.... Folder for the icon to have the same appearance. But the contents would be restored, certainly.
