Screen Problems

My Desktop Screen is acting wierd on my Mac OSX. It's stuck on the way it previously looked a few hours ago. I've deleted and moved around things, but the icons are still there, but the ones I've moved ave basically become invisible. I don't understand what's wrong and I can't find where to post this. Can someone tell me what's wrong?
