I'm looking into revamping the old gal and was wondering.. is there any way I can upgrade from 10.4.11 to a new OS without losing all my programs? I purchased and (within multiple moves) lost the install discs for:

CS3 Creative Suite
FCP Studio 2
Logic 7
so you could understand if I can't get a replacement it would be quite costly...

If I can order new install discs (and an XSKey) I will but if there's a way to avoid it I would appreciate it. Is there a way to save my programs AND upgrade the OS?

A little side note: The tower has two hard drives inside of it and I don't know if the OS is on the same hard drive as the programs but if they were different would it be safe to upgrade, or would I have to wipe both hard drives?

Updating the OS won't overwrite your software just as long as you don't choose to format the HD. Only concern would be compatibility issues with older software versions and newer OS

Oh very nice.

I don't think there are any issues, I run FCP on my other 2 apple's which are on snow leopard I think..

Thanks señor Razormac

I can verify that Adobe CS3 (at least the parts of it I use) runs under Lion.

But you should be aware that Adobe stuff really doesn't like being reinstalled without the original disk. A clone backup might work but basically the odds are high that you will need your original disks.

What with the age of CS3 I'd suggest you buy an old set of the DVDs off someone who's upgraded. That should be sufficient for reinstallation (assuming you have your license numbers of course).
