How can I install 10.2.8 on FW800 external HD ?

I installed OS X 10.5.8 on one partition of my OWC FW800 external HD with no problem. I want to install 10.2.8 on a different partition, but the installer doesn't show the external HD when asking for the install volume (where to install).... ? Anybody know if and how I can get the 10.2.8 installed on an external Firewire 800 HD ? PLEASE & THANK YOU !

What are your Mac specs? It may be Jaguar is simply too old for the machine to handle. As a rule of thumb you cannot install an operating system that was released prior to the machine. No drivers etc.
