Permanently delete trash

Is there a way to find and remove files that have been deleted from Trash? I understand that they remain on the drive, just hidden.

I know it's possible to delete them permanently before putting them into trash, but how about after the trash has been emptied?

You could use Disk Utility and the option to erase free space.

You can also use the Secure empty trash in future, in the Finder menu to really erase files in future
