My school ordered the new iPad the day it came out and less than a week after they got it someone dropped it and cracked the digitizer. I've replaced the digitizer for my 3rd gen iPod Touch multiple times so I offered to take a look at it. Everything works but the glass digitizer is broken. When I replaced the digitizer on my iPod Touch 3rd gen I bought the entire front assembly because it was about $2 more and made replacing the digitizer a lot easier. I've heard that Apple is permanently attaching the digitizers to the LCD in the newer iPods/iPads/iPhones but I'm not sure about the 3rd gen iPad. Should my school buy a replacement digitizer or a replacement digitizer/LCD combo.
