AirPort Express Base - Newbie problems

Your Mac's Specs
G5 500gb
Total newbie - previously PC user - G5 only arrived ten days ago!

Have a network up and working in the house with the PC's which G5 automatically joined but I am completely unable to get an AirPort Express to be recognised. Mac doesn't seem to know that it's around..............

Any ideas how I might persuade it to find it?
