My fan kicks in often, leading me to Activity Monitor, which often shows Finder at ~100% CPU, then Console log showing mssgs pointing at iCal Helper:

Suggestions? These Finder "freak-outs" are disturbing; have checked for viruses - nada.

Thanks in advance

Is iCal Helper something that came with the OS? (I'm still using Leopard.) If not, uninstall it, using its uninstaller application if it has one. If that fixes the problem, then it's your call as to whether or not to try a fresh installation.

My understanding is that iCal Helper is responsible for checking at some frequency the iCal calendars for events now requiring an alert. So, it's an integral part of iCal, and to trash it would defeat much of the point of iCal for me, and who knows what other havoc trashing it might wreak. Shur don't like the Finder freak-outs tho.

Man, sorry. I don't know then. Curious that no one else has responded.
