I seem to have this problem with Mac laptops (I've had two): After owning one for a while, if I put a CD in the CD-Rom, it will rev and try to run whatever's in there, but nothing actually happens, and it tries to eject the disc but can't make it out.

Is this a structural defect, or am I just unlucky? I have a MacBook Pro.

Thanks for your help!

Does it do it for all discs or just one? Had a similar problem with a Macbook and was blaming the machine and then found out that it was a crappy disc...

Well go through the threads and you will find slot loading models, MB, MBP, iMacs and Minis do have a high failure rate with optical drives. And that applies to all brands of computers using slot loaders, not just Macs.
