Hi,

I have a few GarageBand files on my laptop that I would like to send to my larger computer through e-mail. How do I do this? Thanks so much! :)

But that's the thing, my e-mail won't let me send .band files. I heard that I should convert it into a .zip or compress it in order to send it properly, but I'm still not clear on how to do this. :)

Right click the file > Compress "<name of file>". That will create a zip archive of the file.

Which email client are you using, and how big is the file. I've just emailed a .band file using Mail.

I have tried right clicking the file but the "compress" option is grayed out. I am using G-mail. The project is 31.5 MB.

Did you try to compress it from the open dialog or Finder? You need to create the archive in Finder first.

Right click the GarageBand file in Finder (the file manager) and select the option to compress:

Hm. When I right-click the GarageBand file the "Compress" and "Burn" options aren't there. It just jumps straight from "Get Info" to "Duplicate".

Hi, I found something that might be helpful while I was looking up how to e-mail a file from garageband, and saw this page also during my search for answers. I wish whoever writes that would find a better word than "dummies." Anyway, I hope it helps.

GarageBand Audio Files: Understanding Compression - For Dummies

I'll keep searching to see if there's a way to change the format so it can be e-mailed.
