Will New 2012 Macbook Pro 15 Battery work in Late 2010 Macbook Pro 15 ?

Do you mean does the battery from the most current 15" MacBook Pro work/fit in a Mid-2010 15" MacBook Pro?

The reason why I ask is...there is no such thing as a 2012 15" MacBook Pro...Apple hasn't yet released any 2012 MacBook Pro's.

Also...are you aware that the battery in your 2010 MacBook Pro is technically the non-user replaceable type?

Sorry I mean 2011 . Basically the Current model

Ok good.:)

What about the 2nd part of my post above...regarding the non-swappable nature of the 2010 MacBook Pro's battery? Are you aware that you need to disassemble your MacBook Pro to replace the battery (which technically is not a user replaceable part)?

And that these battery's are not available just anywhere (for example...Apple does not sell them).

p.s. Last question...why do you need to replace your battery?

Its only holding a 2 hour charge.

Ok. By the way...I'm asking the other question just to help you out.:) Some folks don't know that the batteries in newer MacBook Pro's are NOT user replaceable.

I've asked the question about the non-user replaceable nature of your MacBook Pro's battery 2x now...and you haven't answered.

There's really no point in finding out if a 2011 15" MBP battery will fit in a 2010 15" MBP if you are not capable of doing the battery replacement yourself.

Until that question is answered...I'm done.

Sorry I though I answered. Basically its a teardown. I think I am capable of doing this with a proper instruction guide you youtube clip. What can be so hard ?

Ok good deal.:) Some folks are scared to death to open up their computers. But with a good DIY procedure (like the iFixit link you posted)...and some patience & confidence...you should be able to do it.:)

As far as the battery compatibility...here is what iFixit.com lists:

MacBook Pro 15" Unibody (Mid 2009/2010) Battery (661-5476, 661-5211) - iFixit
MacBook Pro 15" Unibody (Early 2011/Late 2011) Battery (661-5844) - iFixit

According to the photos the batteries look VERY similar...but the product codes & Apple part numbers are different. So it's hard to say if a battery from a 2011 15" MBP will fit in a 2010 15" MBP.

I'm not sure what's up on your end (if you happen to have a 2011 15" MBP battery just laying around)...or if you need to buy a battery. If you need to buy a battery...buy the exact replacement listed above.:)

The top pin-out board looks different also and the power rating is slightly different. Based on the top connector board alone, I'd say they are different.

I was going to say the same thing about the connector board...but I wasn't 100% sure since the photos of the board aren't the exact same angle. And as you mentioned...the slight difference in the power rating could spell another difference as well.
