Help! All videos in iphoto now in img format

Recently purchased the upgrade to iMovie 11. Now, all of my videos in iphoto show as img images. They still show the video length time in the lower right corner, but the video is in the img format. Unable to double click and play the video like I use to be able to do. Unable to move them into iMovie, because they are in img format. Tried changing the format to mov and even to avi, but it won't work.
Running OS X 10.6.8
QuickTime 10
