• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Hello,
I have recently bought a mac and enjoy the huge hd capacity. I would like to rip my DVD movies on to my mac, so that I can play them without using the disk, so that I can watch movies simultaniously with my brother and sister. Is there any software to use? I tried mac the ripper, and it does not work with quicktime. I tried handbrake, and it only copies 45 minutes of the movie. Can someone help me?

p.s. I am not going to be using this software for pirating, if i wanted to i could just dowload the movies from wherever u download movies. I just want to be able to watch movies DVD-Free thanks,

Use MacTheRipper. You can open the files using Apples DVD Player by selecting the folder to open in DVD Player

You could also use Handbrake.

Rips the DVD onto your HD as a Quicktime file that you can watch whenever you want without the disk. Takes a while to rip though.

EDIT: Didn't see that you had already tried Handbrake... :p

When I ripped zoolander with it it skipped out on the last chapter, but when I tried it for my Best Of Bowie dvd it worked great.

same think happened, i found out that u cant use the sleep or log out or shut down the comp, as it stops the rip process. Over all handbrake is great tho
