Hi,

I have been having major issues with the network set up on my 24" iMac and need to do a reinstall.

Before I take the plunge and put the disk in the drive, what do i need to do to make sure I have a full backup? I have TM running to a 2TB drive which has about 470GB free. The first back up was taken Feb last year after I had to replace my first 1TB drive.

Thanks,
Conor

As long as your TM backup is up to date you're good to go.

But a Time Machine retore will just re-instate your network settings

What is the problem with the network

Every now and again either on ethernet or wireless, browsing, downloading or anything to do with the web will stop working.

I have tried everything to get it to work properly. I have deleted the network prefs file and rebooted, tried using Google DNS settings, set up second account on the system.

It affects all browsers. It only lasts afew minutes but is very annoying.
