got soup on my keyboard, some of the keys do not work anymore, but that can be mended easy enough by just having an external keyboard. The problem is, i think something is up with the power button, for the computer shuts off at random times, or i will be working on it and all of a sudden the "are you sure you want to shut your computer off" menu pops up. not ideal at all, any ideas or solutions to try to fix it

Is this a MBP? If so, you might want to visit iFixit.com and learn about taking the keyboard off (if you are confident) and see if you can do some cleaning inside..

If you got liquid on it then it could be the logic board as well. It sounds like the button. Like the poster above me i agree that you should check out ifixit and see if you can find a solution/guide for your problem.
