Hotmail -can't attach docs

I have a Macbook Pro, and suddenly this week I can no longer send out attachments with my e-mails.

It is not the Hotmail account because I can log in on our other computer, a PC, and I can attach files just fine.

Any tips?

How large are the files you're trying to attach and what kind are they? If I remember from when I had a Hotmail account that there was a limit on file size and content. Are you able to send the same exact files from your PC?

Also, tell us which version of OS X you're running and year model MBP?

My Macbook Pro is early 2011 13"

MAC OSX Lion 10.7.3, 2.3 GHz, 4GB


I can't attach any file from a few KB up to 0.7MB, and larger.

I have been able to attach the exact files on my PC that wouldn't work on the MAC, so it doesn't appear to be a Hotmail issue.

I saw in another thread that this could be related to Silverlight and the advice was to remove Silverlight. If I do so will it screw anything else up?

It seems to me I was asked to update Silverlight in the past few weeks, attempted to do so, but but never got a message that the update had completed.

What browser are you using? Have you tried using a different one?

Silverlight isn't the culprit here since Hotmail doesn't use it to manage attachments.

I'm using Safari.

Also, the other way of using Hotmail from the Mail function also stopped working about the same time and I'm not receiving messages on it.


When i used the PC I was using Internet Explorer.
