As for how you change the Administrator username, the procedure has changed over the years. Here's a good article on the topic:

When I bought my first Mac PCWorld (first mistake) offered to set it up for me. Some days later, after copying masses of files from my old PC, I noted a spelling error in the name they had used for my account.The "Mac expert" at PC World suggested the only solution was to set up a new account and delete the old one which would have entailed copying everything again. Fortunately I decided a bit of investigation was called for and soon discovered that booting as "root user" enabled me to change the user name with no resulting problems.

A Google search on "root user" finds plenty of instructions on how to do it.
