I have been running dual monitors on my macbook 10.5.8 successfully for some time but now when I attach the second monitor the macbook screen shows a large black band on either side and the top and bottom task bars disappear. Only the reduced size wall paper remains and neither keys nor mouse have any effect.
This happens with the second monitor both powered and unpowered.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
