I am still new to OS X so please be nice to me, thank you.

I am trying to find out, what is causing my "selections" to have a black square around it? For example, if an icon is selected on the desktop it has a black line square around it.
How do I turn that off?
I have turned it on somewhow & now I do not know how to get rid of it.

Thank you

Please disregard this, I did not notice that I have "Voice Over" turned on, this is what was showing as selected, with that black square. Each time an object is selected it tells you what it is. I had speakers muted, therefor I did not hear it at first.
Sorry for the trouble
Thank you again.
