I upload videos to you tube using windows 7 . I have many videos longer than 15 minutes. Now that I'm using iMovie on my mac book pro lion iMovie won't allow me to upload the video, stating it is too long. It's not too long since I have been doing it with windows. How do I work around this prob:(lem?:(

hi,

i´m not 100% sure but i don't think it´s an issue - i think i read somewhere that youtube allows no videos longer than 15 min until you have reached a special amount of videos on your youtube channel. so if that's the issue - no work around until you have more videos uploaded.

I have over 400 videos on you tube and I am allowed videos well past 15 minutes so how do I fix iMovie from preventing me from uploading movies more than 15 minutes.

Export the movie from iMovie to Finder then upload to YouTube the old fashioned way.

I placed the file in finder. Can elaborate on "the old fashioned way" I am a windows person new to Mac.
Go into your YouTube account, click on Upload and then Choose Files from Your Computer.

i think what he means is simply - go to youtube, click the upload button and go from there - simple way, not out of the program

IIRC, iMovie is operating under an assumption that's no longer true -- the limit used to be 10 minutes and I don't think Apple ever updated iMovie to reflect the change.

That makes sense. Now, how to contact Apple

As Mighty Gem suggested...simply upload the rendered video from your Desktop...easy.

saving time

I'm not sure I understand...when you followed the "export to finder" advice, were you able to upload as quickly and directly as you can using the share/youtube function in iMovie?
Because as far as I know, if you export to finder, you have to process the codecs thru quicktime, the quality isn't as good, and it takes twice as long...

When you Export to Movie, you can go as high as 1080 if your Project will support, so quality shouldn't suffer. It may take longer, but it works.
