I just purchased the WRT54GS to set up WiFi in my home. It says run the CD first but it's all PC stuff on the disc I think. Do I just plug everything in and go?

You can just plug and play with mac... set up the router through your browser using the linksys local access address: 192.168.1.1

If you have any more questions, just ask me I use the same router.

Sweet!

Works great, thanks! Now, what about security?

What settings can I change to make my network fairly secure?

Is there a tutorial somewhere I can check out to enable some basic security?

Here's what I did:

Enabled MAC filtering to allow only my PB on the network.

Enabled WPA2.

Changed the default administration password.

Changed the SSID.

Disabled SSID Broadcasting.

I think that's about it. I did it by going to http://192.168.1.1/

I think that's it.

Ohh, good idea! I need to do that...

Anybody ever driven around an apartment complex with a laptop? You can tap into so many networks it's almost depressing. Makes you wonder how many people really secure their wireless.
