Ok I am trying to upgrade my brothers Macbook Pro gen 1 from the old OSX Tiger to Snow Leopard. When I put in the disk for regular Leopard (10.5) and it does its normal run through it comes up with a screen that says this cannot be installed on this computer. Now I have seen plenty of these same computers on ebay and what not with newer OSX systems on them. Is there a trick to doing this or is it actually not possible?

Is it a retail install disk or a gray restore media from another computer?

Its just one of those gray install disks that come with every new Macbook.

Those gray disks are model specific...that's why it's not working. Buy a $29 dollar Snow Leopard 10.6 full retail install disk from Apple.com...and everything will work fine.
