Why does Time Machine say it requires 150GB more than the size of Data...

Why does Time Machine say it requires 120GB more than the size of Data i'm trying to back up?

Estimated size 650GB

Available space 690GB

Time Machine "requires" 770GB


I'm a bit lost, thats a big mark-up :eek:

Time Machine is not a clone. It does the initial backup of everything and then does incremental backups adding what's changed. Perhaps it "requires" a 20% margin for doing that.
