Issues with late 2011 MBP 15 intel i5 running Lion.

Hello all hope you can help.. So last night i ran Onyx, after Onyx was finished it asked me to restart. After restarting the computer i got a gray screen with the spinning gray wheel that you always get after restarting. but it became stuck on that screen. After about 10 min of the stuck screen i did a hard boot on the computer. After it rebooted i verified and repaired disc permissions it seemed everything was ok after that..Now i've noticed if i have an app running it wont quit normally, i have to force quit and when i restart its getting stuck on the gray screen again...Any help would be grateful. Also i forgot to add that when the computer starts up it goes to the setup screen where it shows you how to do the gestures..
