Missing Songs!

Hi....

I've got a problem with my iPod and iTunes.

Some artists do not appear in my iPods artist list, but they do appear as songs in the songs list. I would love to solve this because i search on my iPod mainly by artist and it is annoying. Why does it do this? It did it with my old iPod and now it does it with my new one. Does anyone have the answer?

Any help would be very much appreciated!

Regards

Hiya...

Yes, an example is, when i imported my Duran Duran album into iTunes, it played fine and everything, but it fails to be displayed only in the albums menu on my iPod.

Thanks for the reply!

Is all the ID3 information filled in? Meaning: have the songs got an artist name & album name & song name in the correct fields?

I'm not sure what to tell you other than to maybe try and reformat your iPod using the iPod Update utility and seeing if that helps.

I seem to be having the same problem with my 60gb iPod 5G. For example, I have 3 songs by 2 Unlimited; No Limit, Get Ready 4 This, and Twlight Zone.

When I use the iPod, No Limit is the only song that shows up under Artists. I have a feeling that since Get Ready 4 This and Twlight Zone has no information under the Album field and No Limit does, this is contributing to the problem. And, yes, I can access the individual songs under the Songs menu, just not under their respective artist.

I'll report back with anything that I find regarding this issue.

UPDATE: This seems to be happening only to artists with one ID'd album and the rest blank. For example, with the 2 Unlimited example, I only have one album listed for any of the tracks, rather than two. It seems that when I access them on the ipod, under artists, it skips the screen asking for what album and just jumps the only album that exists, ignoring tracks without a listed album. For artists with two or more albums, this problem does not seem to be occuring; the ipod lists all the tracks.

If anyone has any clue PLEASE let me know!

New 5th gen iPods & nanos skip the album field when you have an artist with only 1 album. Seems this is a bit of a bug then...

Either remove the album tag for the 1 song, or add blanks, -, or ... in the other album tags.

If that is true, I really hope Apple releases a patch soon. Otherwise, I'll be tagging album fields for ages.
