• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Hi. I did something stupid. I'm hoping someone can help me find my files with time machine.

OK so I was running very low on HD space so I tried to work out what was taking up so much space. I clicked on "all movies" under the "search for" heading on the left side of a window. Sorry - I have no idea what the correct terms are? So here I saw all my movies that I've taken over the past 5 years and realised how huge it was. I've got a 2Tb external HD so I thought I could highlight and drag all these files onto my external HD. It was about 100Gig. I started the copying process and went to bed. The next morning I checked and everything was copied over nicely. I then went to the "all movies" area and deleted all the files I could see there. BUT I didn't realised this was mucking around with the ones I had just copied to the external HD. Now when I look at it all the movies are zero K. I can also see them in the iphoto app but they won't open and play.

I know I should have worked straight in iphoto and what I did was stupid.

I have time machine backups so I've gone into it but I can't figure out where the movie files are. When I do a search it's still not showing anywhere.

Can anyone help me, please. Thanks.

If they were in the ipho library you can restore the entireiphoto library file. It's in your Pictures folder
