• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

i couldnt figure imovie out. all the things i could see had to do with adding your own stuff like special intros and stuff. I didnt want to deal with that. after some searching i figured out i needed to look for a joiner program. there is many i tried 4 or 5 of them and some worked others didnt. the best one that worked 100% was a windows program called Free Video Joiner. it does it properly by decoding each one first and then it encodes to the format you choose. the others mostly just tried to jam the files together and often failed. bootcamp saves the day again.

Open iMovie. Import your mp4s. Create New Project. Drag mp4s from Events to New Project. Share/Export as required. No need for "adding your own stuff like special intros and stuff".

If I recall correctly I have done this using MPEG Streamclip. Early versions had a join command. The current version doesn't seem to have that but here's the solution if I remember correctly:

1, Move target files into a folder and get them into the order you want them. I temporarily renamed some so they would appear on the right order in Streamclip's open file list

2. Launch Streamclip and choose to open files.

3. Select all files in the list and they should open in sequence.

The files should open in sequence in one file. Chosse Save As or one of the export options to save the files.
