Cursor disappears

Sometimes the cursor will just disappear, anyone else have an issue with this? It's not that I can't see it, I move the mouse around to check of course. The cursor has clearly vanished. The only way I can get the cursor to come back is to click, but this is highly undesireable as I have no idea where I am clicking! (Clicking in the wrong location could close a window, click a button in a web app, could easily result in something bad) Not to mention that this shouldn't even be an issue I should have to deal with as an end user.

Anyone else have this problem? How do I file a bug report with apple? Thanks!

It is probably a graphics card glitch, this happens to me sometimes. Just try restarting your computer.

Sounds like it to me.

*What video card does the late 2011 MacBook Pro have? (And where can I find this information?)

*How do I file a bug report with Apple?

Thanks!

Perhaps if you tell us which late 2011 MacBook Pro you have we can answer the question for you....

You can also find out which GPU your machine has by clicking on the Apple menu and selecting "About This Mac", then select "more info".

Still having this issue. It is pretty unnerving to have my cursor vanish four to five times a day, especially from a code quality point of view. I can't reboot every time this happens either, that is an unacceptable loss of productivity.

The problem is that I am usually running firefox, adium, and about twenty iterm instances, so to go from full productivity mode to shutdown and then back to having all my apps up and running usually takes about ten minutes or so. In a work environment, this is simply unacceptable haha.

Been running updates regularly and still having this issue. This is somewhat concerning because the only way I can get the cursor to come back is to click a few times, but since I can't see the cursor I can't see where I am clicking, and in a few cases I have lost work because of this.

Where can I file a bug report with apple?

Oddly the other day I had that same problem but only when I was in a certain page (I can't remember what page it was (wasn't a porn site or anything like that, it was a site that had tutorials). The cursor would dissappear but would show when it was on another tab. I would switch tabs and the cursor would reappear.

Check your versions for the programs you have open (I'm not sure but I think option (on a PC keyboard on mac it's the windows key) + Tab to switch windows for different program (ex: switch from Firefox to finder and vise versa). I'm not sure what it would be for adium windows, or withing programs). This could be a problem with your graphics card but it also could be a program you are using. Google the progs and see if there are updates or if others have had same or similar probs with those programs. I would also suggest repairing permissions and/or reinstalling your apps (if you can pinpoint the problem to the mac or a program that you are using. Just so you know tho, a google search came up with your same problem using iterm.

Also try seeing when the problem occurs, if it's when adium starts, when iterm does, if it's after a specific amount of pages as this may not be a problem with the mac but with an app you are using.

Good Luck

Thanks for the help on this. I will definitely try what you have suggested. I always have the following open:

*Firefox
*iTerm
*Adium

Thanks!

OK then, I use firefox and as I said it was only a specific page and watching one video tutorial on either backing up your mac using ccc or restoring using ccc. So it also could have been something to do with their coding as that was the only time I've had that problem (I am using and have used Snow Leopard for years also) and am using version 9.01 of firefox for quite a long time and altho I don't chat a lot lately my version of adium is 1.5. I don't use iterm, but if you are using older versions it might possibly be one of the progs.

Happens to me all the time. This may not work for you but if I drop the cursor down to the bottom of the screen mmentarily, it appears again
