Help~Disc Drive wont respond!

What do I do? I have never had a problem with this before.. When I hit the eject button, nothing happens. I do not believe there is anything in the disc drive, or at least nothing is being read, however it will not allow me to put a disc in... Can anyone help at all?

Well it would appear you own a MacBook, MacBook Pro, iMac or Mac Mini?

All use slot loading optical drives which do seem to have a high failure rate. Looks like you are in the market for a new optical drive but with no machine details very hard to assist further. Go to OWC and look at their optical drives.
