Tap the home button at the lock screen, there is the camera button on the lower right hand corner. Right next to the Slide to Unlock.

iOS 5.1 changelog says that the camera icon is always visible on the lock screen. So no need to double-tap the home button anymore..

I'm doing the update right now..

Yup, it's always there, no need to double click just slide it upwards to reveal the camera app

Yep I know all that, but after update camera button now doesn't work. Try it on your updated iPhones.

Yep I know all that, but after update camera button now doesn't work. Try it on your updated iPhones.

What exactly isn't working?
I can swipe to open the camera app from the lock screen. I can take pics.
And I can open the camera app from the conventional camera app icon.

iOS 5.1 camera button non-functional

Before the update, I could "double tap" the home button and bring up the camera icon at the lock screen to tap and take pictures. Since the update put the camera button at the lock screen, I have been unable to take pictures from the lock screen. i tap the button and the bottom of the screen jumps up and down and nothing else happens. I can still take pics from the app past the lock screen, but this update was a bust!

Update: I found the answer to my problem.

You now swipe up to activate the lock screen camera in iOS 5.1. Likewise, you can swipe down to deactivate the camera and return back to the lock screen.

Hey MrPlow: don't feel bad, I've had that happen to me too! Put the correct answer in like the third post and people just ignore it and go on guessing or complaining or what have you. Ah well.

Cheers. Odd isn't it? And twice in one thread no less.
