Hi everyone,

Recently I was given a MacBook Pro (old model) for free and as I turned on the laptop, it boots only into windows XP. I am wondering how I can get the apple operating system back on the macbook. Note that this model does not have a DVD drive.

In addition, the keys are not responsive and I am thinking this might be a software issue, but then again, I am not too sure.

Can anyone suggest some solutions to these issues? Thank you!!

G'day and welcome to the forums.

Boot and hold down the Option key to see what is installed. Normally Windows is set up using Bootcamp on a partition. If Mac OS X appears, select and boot, go into System Preferences > Startup Disk and choose Mac OS X for the normal boot.
