Hi all,

My partner wishes to sell his previous 13 inch Macbook (mid 2006 build), and since I'm the tiniest bit more mac-savvy than he is I have set myself the task of making it more functionable for sale.

The biggest problem I've come up against so far is that the internal optical disk drive is nowhere to be found - not in Sytem Profiler or Disk Utility or anywhere else as I far I can see. I loaded a blank CD into the drive to see what would happen - it made an awful clunky noise and has swallowed it (but I'm pretty sure a restart whilst holding down the trackpad button will spit it back out).

Can anyone help me relocate the drive? Or is it 'dead'?

Thanks to all who help,
J.

[More news: Restart with trackpad button didn't spit the CD back out. Oh dear.]

It is dead and needs to be replaced or sold as is.
If you have another Mac you could make a USB stick of the OS DVD and then format and reinstall from that stick.
