Sort Music in iPad2

How is it possible to sort a Smart Playlistt on the iPad2 according to Artist or Genre. (As in iTunes)?

You cannot create playlists on the iOS devices, you have to create them in iTunes and then sync them to your iOS devices and they will be available then..

Thank you. The playlists were created in iTunes and synced to the iPad. Whereas in iTunes they can be sorted (alphabetically by song, by artist, genre, etc.) they appear in the iPad "scrambled" even if at the time of syncronising they were sorted by, say, artists.

This may be too obvious, but in the playfield up at the top, are we sure the "shuffle" icon has been turned off (which I believe is when it is seen in black)?
